PAYS DE LA LOIRE: A DYNAMIC REGION WITH MANY FACETs

A wine-growing region to be savoured

All wine lovers know that the vineyards in Pays de la Loire should not be missed! This is the third largest wine-growing region in France as regards AOC wines. Muscadet, Saumur-Champigny, etc, are just some of those to be tasted and enjoyed. And that’s not all! Discover more than 200 cellars labelled as tourist wine cellars, which means you can visit the cellars and taste the produce.

Nature-based activities!

Pays de la Loire has 3,000 kms of cycling routes, including the famous Loire à Vélo, Vélodyssée and Vélo Francette biking itineraries, which go past the Lion d’Angers nature campsite.

Do you feel more at home on the water than on a bike? This region also looks to the Atlantic! Discover breathtaking scenery aboard your canoe as you travel down the Oudon River, a tributary of the Mayenne River.

You can also board a traditional ‘gabarre’ boat and explore the locks as you travel down the river.

ANJOU, a land of daring and great events

There’s no time to be bored in Pays de la Loire, especially in the heart of the Anjou Bleu area!

Enjoy a stay at the Lion d’Angers campsite and fill your holiday with exciting activities.

Is this a family holiday? Your children are sure to love a visit to Terra Botanica, where they can learn while having fun. And don’t miss the Zoo de la Flèche, just an hour from the campsite.

Anjou is all about riding, to delight all horse lovers: discover the incredible Lion d’Angers racecourse with the famous Mondial du Lion, an unmissable international riding event!

Rich historical and cultural heritage

Anjou is full of typical villages with character, such as Chenillé-Changé, Thorigné d’Anjou and Grez-Neuville. You can stroll along the waterfront or appreciate the beauty of hundred-year-old houses.

Did you know that Anjou has many magnificent chateaux? Close to the Lion d’Angers nature campsite, you can discover the splendid Renaissance Chateau de la Lorie, the most northerly of the Chateaux de la Loire, or the Medieval Chateau de Pouancé.

Discover the ancestral skills of the Angers area, from La Veurière lime kilns or the granite museum, to the Mine Bleue slate mine.
