This medieval fair is the largest historical gathering in France and it is held in Avignon every other year. More than 85 historical re-enactment groups come from all over Europe to take part in this festival that includes encampments from all eras (Vikings, pirates, the Middle Ages, etc.). You will be able to relive the different ages with more than 1,500 actors in costume who re-enact many scenes, as well as shows, concerts, a medieval market, etc.
The festival opens on Saturday with a grand parade! Enjoy yourself and make bets on who will win the tournaments, axe throwing and sword fights! Go back in time as you taste former gastronomic dishes, discover the crafts, music, falconry shows, fights on horseback, etc… not forgetting the candy catapult for the kids. There is so much in store for you!
