Massif du Sancy: another way to enjoy the summer

One of the most beautiful mountains in Auvergne

Calling all those who just love mountains, the outdoors and views of endless nature! Our Camping de Tauves campsite is at the foot of Sancy at an altitude of 800 metres. This famous volcano overlooks a series of cirques whose ridges create spectacular routes to the summit, from which you can admire the exceptionally beautiful wild plants and animals amidst the rocky landscape.

Utter peace or big thrills? You can find both in nature activities

There are no less than 670 kilometres of signed trails for you to roam on foot, mountain bike or horseback! Challenge your children during your outing! Ask them to spot groundhogs, chamois, mouflon sheep and birds of prey that love to make an appearance in fine weather…

Magnificent views

During the summer season, you can take the cable car up to the summit (or a path with 864 steps for the fittest), where you will be fully rewarded by the breath-taking views over Mont Dore, Mont Cézallier and the mountains of Cantal! Take in the whole of Auvergne all at once. If you look carefully into the east, you may be able to see something sparkling in the sky… this is the famous Mont Blanc!

After so much effort, you can head for one of the many lakes (La Tour d’Auvergne, Guéry, etc.), where you can enjoy bathing in the refreshing water amidst superb natural surroundings!
